Announcement: Poster Competition on “Digital Economy, Carbon Neutrality, and Quality of Life”

We are pleased to announce a poster competition as part of our upcoming Walailak Research Convention 2024. This competition invites participants to present posters that encapsulate the theme “Digital Economy, Carbon Neutrality, and Quality of Life.” This initiative aims to foster academic discourse and innovation in these critical areas.

Terms and Conditions

  • The venue for this event is Walailak University, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand. (Onsite)
  • The poster competition in this instance cannot be used to fulfill graduation requirements.

Competition Timeline

  • Registration Period: Prospective participants are required to register for the competition between February 1st, 2024, and February 26th, 2024.
  • Submission Deadline: The final date for poster submission is March 15th, 2024, at 23:59 (Bangkok Time). Submissions should be sent via email.

General Requirements for Poster Competition Participants

  • Eligibility: This competition is open exclusively to actively enrolled college students from various educational institutions.
  • Participation Format: Entries may be submitted by individuals or in groups, with a maximum of three persons per group. All group members must be affiliated with the same institution.
  • Advisor Involvement: While participants may seek guidance from an advisor affiliated with their university, it is imperative that the primary content and conceptualization of the poster be the original work of the participant(s).
  • Poster Theme and Research: The poster must address the theme “Digital Economy, Carbon Neutrality, and Quality of Life,” and should be grounded in research conducted by the participant(s) at their respective institution. This research may encompass studies from industries, companies, or analyses of events in various environments.
  • Identification Requirements: Each poster must include the participant’s name and their university’s name, placed at the lower right corner.
  • Poster Specifications and Submission: The posters should be 70 cm in width and 100 cm in height. Submissions must be sent in both .jpg and .pdf formats. Assessment Criteria for the Poster Competition

The posters will be evaluated based on the following criteria, each critical for demonstrating academic excellence and relevance to the theme
1.Content Relevance:
  • Thematic Alignment: How effectively does the poster address the theme and objectives of the selected category (Digital Economy, Carbon Neutrality, or Quality of Life)?
  • Contemporary Relevance: Is the content reflective of current trends and challenges within the chosen category?
2.Innovation and Creativity:
  • Originality in Research: To what degree does the poster exhibit innovative and creative approaches in its research or conceptual development?
  • Novelty of Ideas: Are there groundbreaking ideas or methodologies presented that contribute significantly to the advancement of knowledge in the field?
3.Impact and Practicality:
  • Potential Impact: What is the anticipated impact of the research or innovation within its respective category?
  • Real-world Application: Is there a discernible demonstration of practical applications or solutions that effectively address current real-world challenges?
4.Visual Presentation:
  • Visual Effectiveness: How proficiently is the information conveyed visually?
  • Organization: Does the poster exhibit a clear, organized, and visually engaging layout, incorporating effective use of pictures, tables, and graphics?
5.Clarity of Message:
  • Communication of Main Message: Is the primary message or hypothesis of the research or innovation conveyed clearly?
  • Accessibility of Findings: Are the key findings or concepts presented in a manner that is easily comprehensible to the audience?
6.Scientific and Research Rigor:
  • Methodological Robustness: How sound and rigorous is the scientific or research methodology employed in the work presented?
  • Evidence and Analysis: Are the results underpinned by substantial evidence and thorough analysis?
7.Overall Impression:
  • Viewer Impact: What overall impact does the poster create on the viewer?
  • Engagement and Interest: Does the poster stimulate interest and engagement from its audience?
8.Scoring Rubric:
  • Coverage of the Topic: 45%. This criterion assesses how comprehensively the poster addresses the selected category.
  • Innovation and Creativity: 20%. This aspect evaluates the originality and creative input in the poster’s content and approach.
  • Design: 15%. This evaluates the visual appeal, including layout, graphics, and overall aesthetic.
  • Presentation and Organization: 20%. This measures the clarity, structure, and logical flow of the poster.
The evaluation process will meticulously assess these criteria to discern the most outstanding contributions in each category. Participants are encouraged to ensure their posters effectively embody and communicate the significance and scholarly merit of their work in the realms of Digital Economy, Carbon Neutrality, or Quality of Life.

Poster Preparation

The poster competition will critically evaluate submissions according to the following criteria, applicable across three principal categories: Digital Economy, Carbon Neutrality, and Quality of Life.
  • Language Requirement: The poster must be prepared and presented in English.
  • Creativity and Engagement: The submission should demonstrate originality and creativity, capturing the viewer’s interest.
  • Poster Template Structure: Abstract, Problem Statement, Hypothesis, Materials, Methodology, Graphs and Tables (if applicable), Results and Data Analysis, and Future Work or Directions

Award Categories and Prize Allocation

Walailak University is proud to present the Research and Innovation Awards for 2024, which recognize outstanding interdisciplinary research contributions. These awards are classified into various categories and levels:

Award Levels:

  • Undergraduate Level
  • Graduate Level (inclusive of Master’s and Doctoral Degrees)

Award Types:

Awardees will be honored with certificates from Walailak University, accompanied by monetary prizes. The prizes are allocated according to the excellence of each submission, as evaluated based on the university’s established scoring criteria. The distribution of awards is as follows:

Undergraduate Level:

1st Winner: Cash prize of 10,000 Baht + Award Certificate
2nd Winner: Cash prize of 7,000 Baht + Award Certificate
3rd Winner: Cash prize of 5,000 Baht + Award Certificate
4th Winner (2 Awards): Cash prize of 2,000 Baht each + AwardCertificate

Graduate Level (Master's and Doctoral Degrees):

1st Winner: Cash prize of 10,000 Baht + Award Certificate
2nd Winner: Cash prize of 7,000 Baht + Award Certificate
3rd Winner: Cash prize of 5,000 Baht + Award Certificate
4th Winner (2 Awards): Cash prize of 2,000 Baht each + AwardCertificate

Registration Fee:

There is no registration fee for participation in the Poster Competition.
